Operation and Maintenance

In addition to the emergency response cover, D&A Systems offers comprehensive maintenance provision of both your High Voltage and Low Voltage assets over a four year cycle.

Here at D & A Systems we have a wealth of knowledge and experience of maintaining various types of assets including Switchgear and Transformers at voltages upto and including 33000Volts. As part of our maintenance regime we not only undertake intrusive maintenance but also secondary inject the protection system to ensure correct functionality.

From an operational perspective we subscribe to a nationally accredited data base which illustrates any Suspension of Operational Practices (SOP's) that may appertain to the switchgear which is vital to ensure operator safety.

Furthermore we offer a bespoke protection grading service to ensure that your network protective devices discriminate with one another minimizing catastrophic failure of equipment and disruption of supply.
Partial Discharge Testing

It is essential to detect and monitor Partial Discharge as the phenomenon is an indicator of pending insulation breakdown.

Partial discharge if undetected can have devastating consequences with catastrophic failure of equipment leading to loss of supply and production.

Partial discharge testing is a cost effective and non-intrusive technique for ensuring supply reliability and long term operational sustainability. Analysis can be performed under normal operating conditions with no interruption to supply.

The benefits of partial discharge testing are as follows:

  • It is a truly proactive test, indicating insulation degradation in advance of failure.
  • The cost to perform a PD survey is relatively inexpensive compared with the off-line testing, allowing annual surveys to be performed economically.
  • In many instances the position of the partial discharge activity can be located within the test object, thus enabling the localised problem to be repaired.
Thermographic Inspections

Thermal Imaging has evolved into one of the most valuable diagnostic tools for predictive maintenance.  By utilising the most advanced equipment D & A Systems are proud to offer this service to our customers.

Thermal imaging is the production of non-contact infrared pictures from which temperature measurements can be made which in-turn detect anomalies often invisible to the naked eye, even while electrical systems are under load.

Thermographic inspections should be a regular part of a predictive maintenance programme to pre-empt failure and to plan corrective action.
